In Sura Luqman, Allah has mentioned the advice that Hazrat Luqman gives to his son. He says:
[31:16] O my son! surely if it is the very weight of the grain of a mustard-seed, even though it is in (the heart of) rock, or (high above) in the heaven or (deep down) in the earth, Allah will bring it (to light); surely Allah is Knower of subtleties, Aware;
This post will consider the following:
Allah swt is Al Aleem, the All Knowing, the Khabeer, All Aware: there is nothing that is in the innermost of the innermost thing which is hidden from Him. Even if what we do or think is as...

Maintaining Family Relationships Part 1 from Marzia Hassan on Vimeo.
The days have been long and the nights much too short. We started with some trepidation about how we would manage with the heat and the thirst. Alhamdulliah, with Allah’s grace and strength, the month flew by much too fast. As we approach the final few days of the Blessed Month, we may be feeling a mix of emotions: a tinge of sadness at the ending of the month of Blessings, Mercy and Forgiveness, a wondering of how to make the awesome feeling of closeness to Him and spirituality stay with us a little longer.
For many of us, this is the only time in the year when we change the focus of our attention from worldly matters and at least cast a glance at matters of the spirit. During the rest of the year, although we may profess love and belief in Allah, we may think of Him or call on Him only in times of distress and rarely find time to turn to Him in prayer and gratitude. During this awesome month, however, we have tasted of the Divine Banquet of Mercy, we have developed...
Continuing with our reflections from Sura Ankabut, in this post we will look at a three point action plan that Allah swt gives to the Prophet (saw) and to mankind.
In verse 45, the Prophet (saw) is commanded by Allah swt:
اتْلُ مَا أُوحِيَ إِلَيْكَ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ وَأَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ إِنَّ الصَّلَاةَ تَنْهَى عَنِ الْفَحْشَاء وَالْمُنكَرِ وَلَذِكْرُ اللَّهِ أَكْبَرُ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَصْنَعُونَ
[29:45] Recite that which has been revealed to you of the Book and keep up prayer; surely prayer keeps (one) away from indecency and evil, and certainly the remembrance of Allah is the greatest, and Allah knows what you do.
In this verse, the Prophet (saw) is told that the way to keep focus in this world, and to seek strength through the trials of life is to recite the Book, keep up Salaat and engage in constant Remembrance or Zikr.
1) Recite the book:
It is essential to recite the book, reflect on it and apply it so that the knowledge and guidance becomes internalized. Given that the...
This is the final ayat and the last lesson of the Sura. It tells us that although the struggle and the trials sound overwhelming, we have the strength of The Greatest behind us. We are not alone in this.
وَالَّذِينَ جَاهَدُوا فِينَا لَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَا وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَمَعَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ
[29:69] And (as for) those who strive hard for Us, (in Us) We will most certainly guide them in Our ways; and Allah is most surely with the doers of good.
In this world, we are forever striving. Striving at all times is unavoidable. Life and the fruits of life are based on striving. To get anything in life, we have to try hard, fail, try again until we get somewhere. This verse reminds us that for ultimate success, we need to strive to get connect with Him and please Him. This will be the best outcome for all the effort and struggle we put in. The best return for effort invested wisely.
This last verse of Surah Al-‘Ankabut, points to the epitome of the whole Sura and completes the...
